History
In 1975, Tim Baker founded Baker’s Waterproofing with only his pick-up truck. In 2012, Tim’s son, Brian, bought the business and expanded its products and services. I’m the Guy Basements (ITG) was founded in 2009 by Jake Waltz. In 2021, Baker’s and ITG joined forces with Groundworks, the nation’s leading and fastest-growing foundation and water management solutions company, to expand their services across the state. Baker’s Waterproofing is a BBB accredited business with an A+ rating, and is a multi-time winner of the Pittsburgh Top Workplaces award and the BBB Torch Award for Ethics. We noticed water damage on a basement wall. I called a trusted contractor who gave us the highest recommendation for this company. They worked with my crazy schedule to find a date that worked for Steve to come give the estimate. Cale, TySean, Greg, Shay, Geovanni, and Joel did great work. On time, worked efficiently, explained everything, let me ask a zillion questions! 🙂

Daylan and Nick are a great team. They called ahead to let me know their ETA and kept me apprised of their progress each step of the way. They are professional and hard working. My basement was not the easiest set-up and they were able to adjust the plan, always getting my approval, along the way. Bakers waterproofing has multiple options to finance the work, making this necessary work easier to get completed.

The team of Victor Cruz, Deontae and Miguel worked a long time today at Calvary Lutheran Church to fix water in basement and deterioration of walls. Team was very well trained and executed flawlessly to correct our issues in our basement. This is a well oiled team that would be tough to find one better. Professionals that were extremely knowledgeable to execute. Enjoyable team to work with and ultimately saw our problems completely resolved with the finely tuned team! No other team can complete with this team!

The crew was very nice and knowledgeable. Found something that needed fixed. Replaced it. When I inquired about a dehumidifier/air purifier they had one on their truck. Explained how it worked and I opted to have them install it. So far very pleased. Time will tell if all is well with this unit.. Hopefully it will last a long time.

The team assigned to my project delivered exceptional results and truly exceeded my expectations. The encapsulation crew—Tysean Lacks, Brennan Cole, and Geovanni Medina—demonstrated exceptional diligence and professionalism, completing the project to a standard that went above and beyond what I anticipated. While the work quality was outstanding, the company’s handling of procedural errors leaves room for improvement. Specifically, when a mistake occurred during the house jacking process—where one jack was omitted from the initial cost estimate—I was disappointed by the company’s approach to resolving the issue. Rather than absorbing the cost of their oversight, they attempted to pass the additional expense onto me, even threatening to cancel the project when I objected. Considering the premium pricing of their services, which often exceeds industry standards, such situations should not arise. To their credit, the company ultimately reduced the additional cost as a resolution, but homeowners investing significant sums—ranging from tens of thousands to six figures—should not bear the burden of internal errors. Overall, while the work itself was exemplary, I encourage the company to re-evaluate its policies for addressing and resolving procedural missteps to better align with the level of service their pricing suggests. That said, based on the overall performance and the final product they delivered, I would highly recommend them.

We contacted Baker's before we made an offer on a bigger home. The mines had gone underneath, and we wanted to put the work into having a bigger home. Unfortunately, the offer on the home was not accepted, but the CFI who quoted the job was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He made me safe knowing that the home could be saved by stabilizing the foundation. We are still in the market for a bigger home and if I need any work completed, I will be calling Baker's. They really made me feel secure that I could keep my family safe if any of these situations occurred at my current home or any future homes.

From initial consult to the completed project, the whole process was fantastic. When my basement walls started leaking through cracks, I would have never imagined I would be saying such a thing. Baker’s Waterproofing took the time to explain everything to me. I felt extremely comfortable and well informed through every step. Based on all the estimates I got, they are reasonably priced. The team that came to do the job worked diligently and went above and beyond in my opinion. Highly recommend them to everyone!
