Jim of Hidden Valley, PA didn’t have a lot of water in his basement, but he had very damp basement walls with signs of mold growth. After hearing about us from a previous customer, he called Baker’s to see if there was a solution to his specific problem.
Service Advisor Justin Lowden gave the free inspection and understood that he didn’t need a complete waterproofing system. He instead proposed having our BrightWall vapor protective panels installed along the porous foundation, and a SaniDry dehumidify system installed to control humidity and odorous smells. Our paneling system is 100% waterproof so there is no worry of them warping or becoming damaged. Our SaniDry system is specifically designed for basements and can purify a space up to 2,200 square feet.
The installation only lasted 1 day and Jim was very happy to now have a dry, clean space in his basement.
Homeowners Sharon and Roy were just tired of cleaning up the puddling water along the floor by their oil tank. The water was causing an unpleasant odor and sulfur was starting to take form. Something needed to be done so they called the experts at Baker’s.
We gave a free inspection and proposed an internal basement waterproofing system. This consisted of our Waterguard drain installed against the foundation where the leak was occurring with a sump pump system called the TripleSafe to pump water outside. Both products come with a Transferable Lifetime Warranty, and will work together to create a system that will prevent water along the foundation and floor for years to come!
A Somerset, PA homeowner had a damp, moldy basement. Instead of continuing to stress about this problem, he called the experts!
Our Certified Waterproofing Professional inspected the home to design a proven, custom waterproofing solution. At a later date, our crew transformed this unlivable basement into a dry, healthy and comfortable space!
We accomplished this by spraying our Mold-X2 stain remover, which prevents a habitat for mold, so the homeowner does not have to worry about mold in his home ever again. Then, they placed our white, plastic CleanSpace wall vapor barrier on the basement walls. This liner is a durable, 100% waterproof barrier that does not allow moisture or humidity to pass through. On the same day, the crew dug a small perimeter trench and sump pit to install our WaterGuard below-floor drain and TripleSafe sump pump system. This is a quick and sure way to dry up a basement! The crew connected the systems, backfilled the areas with more stone, and then hand-poured new concrete. The sump pump will discharge water through piping that runs to the exterior of the home.
The next time it rains, the homeowner can happily enjoy his dry basement!
A homeowner in Central City recently bought a home originally built in 1975. The 3-foot tall crawl space beneath the home had a loosely laid vapor barrier on the dirt floor with 2 open vents to the outside. The homeowner called Baker's Waterproofing to control groundwater leakage and completely fix this concerning issue.
Our office scheduled a time for one of our Service Advisors to thoroughly inspect the crawl space foundation and design a reliable system. Service Advisor Justin Lowden identified standing water in various areas on top of the old, thin vapor barrier. Additionally, the wood crawl space structure absorbed excess moisture in the air released through the dirt floor, vents, and foundation. Justin completely eliminated these negative effects on the home with a customized crawl space solution.
Once the homeowner hired Baker's for the project, our office set a date for Foreman Jon Mitchell to complete the work. Jon and his crew removed the old vapor barrier and installed our crawl space sump pump system to fix the groundwater leakage. Then, they placed our drainage matting on the dirt floor to control the earth's moisture. The white CleanSpace vapor barrier system was placed on top of the drainage matting and wrapped up the foundation walls to isolate the home from the earth.
The crew sealed off the crawl space vents to prevent outside air and pests from entering the home. Eliminating excess moisture in the air was the final step to fully repairing the homeowner's crawl space issues. Jon installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to improve air quality and improve the home's overall market value.
A Stoystown, PA homeowner had lived in her home for 62 years. She had never had water problems before, but started noticing a leaky corner when it rained.
She was tired of mopping up water, so she decided to find a permanent solution to the problem.
Our waterproofing and foundation repair specialist Doug Ross completed an inspection of the interior and exterior of the home. Doug took detailed notes of the homeowner's needs and designed a partial waterproofing solution for her. She knew that she would continue to get water without a system, so she decided to move forward with the installation.
Our Foreman David Cain installed 12 feet of WaterGuard in the front corner of the basement tied to a TripleSafe sump pump. On the exterior, he installed buried downspout extensions to keep water away from the foundation and put on an IceGuard anti-freeze discharge fitting to give water an emergency exit in the rare case of a frozen or clogged line.
This homeowner has a dry basement yet again!
A homeowner in Meyersdale, PA had a crawlspace beneath her kitchen that was affecting the first floor. She had heated flooring installed, because she couldn't stand the floors being so cold.
She later realized that she should probably take care of the crawlspace, so that it would not affect other parts of the home as well. She called Baker's Waterproofing for a free estimate.
One of our service advisors completed a thorough inspection of the crawlspace, taking all of the customer's concerns into account. She never had water leak into her crawlspace, so she did not need a drainage system.
The service advisor designed a solution that would keep cold outside air away from entering her crawlspace.
Foreman Jacob Shumar and his crew installed SilverGlo crawlspace wall insulation and CleanSpace vapor barrier to completely encapsulate the area.
The homeowner will no longer have cold floors in her home!
A homeowner in Jennerstown, PA had a bowing retaining wall on the outside of her home and it would not allow her basement door to open.
Our Service Advisor Don Stiffler assessed the area and would have recommended our Geo-Lock wall anchor, but the sewer line and oil tank posed as obstacles, so we could not safely and properly install our anchor system.
As the solution, we used other innovative methods to give this homeowner a stabilized and straightened wall.
On the day of the project, we excavated the outside of this homeowner's retaining wall. Our foreman Brian Komen and his crew exposed the 8-foot wall and dug about 4 feet down into the soil. Once the wall was exposed, Brian and his crew straightened the retaining wall back toward its original position.
We backfilled the wall with clean stone and most of the existing soil, and completed a rough grade of the treated area. We removed the remaining soil from the site.
The homeowner can now open her backdoor without a bowed wall in the way!
A homeowner in Windber, PA had a concrete driveway that was settling and cracking near his garage. He was unsure if it was settlement issue or a concrete issue, so he called the experts for help.
One of our trained service advisors went to the home and came up with a solution that would permanently stabilize the sinking concrete and stop it from cracking further.
Foreman Scott Clark isntalled our PolyLevel foam solution underneath the driveway and garage slabs to keep them stable. He also filled in a crack to keep water out.
This homeowner now has a stable driveway!
