Jim of Weirton, WV was starting to see stair step cracks on his concrete block basement walls. After further inspection, he noticed he had a very extreme case of bowing, having the wall facing 3 1/2” inwards in the worst area.
In September of 2014 Service Advisor Joshua Emery went to Jim’s home to inspect the wall. After investigating he proposed installing 5 Bailey Channel anchors with the use of excavation to access the wall outside. Channel anchors are a great selection to repair very extreme cases of bowing. Although usually not needed, excavation was done to give access to the full exterior wall making us able to straighten the wall instantly. In most cases homeowners do not excavate, since they can use the given tightening kit to slowly straighten the wall over time.
After the installation Jim was happy to have his wall fully restored!
Christopher of Weirton WV was receiving water in his partially finished basement during heavy rain storms. On top of that his back wall was beginning to bow. He needed a solution ASAP to remedy both of these issues so he called the experts at Baker’s Waterproofing.
In August of 2014 Service Advisor Shawn Evans traveled to Chris's home and conducted the free estimate. For his waterproofing needs he proposed the installation of a sump pump system and our most recommended interior system, WaterGuardto the front and back wall where water was specifically entering. As additional products to the system Christopher purchased 20 ft. of Lawn Scape downspout extensions which will divert water away from the home, and BrightWall semi-rigid plastic panels which acts as a vapor barrier along the foundation walls.
To stabilize the bowed wall Shawn had our GeoLock Wall Anchors installed. Using both the exterior and interior sides of the wall the anchors provide instant stabilization. The anchors also come with a tightening kit, providing the possibility of straightening the wall back to its original position.
An apartment complex owner in Weirton, WV was experiencing water problems in one of his units. Over the past few years, each heavy rain brought streams of water into the unit's garage. The owner expressed concern for his ability to sell this unit to a new renter. We recently completed a concrete leveling project for him, so he felt confident hiring our company to provide a permanent waterproofing solution.
Our foreman, Dave Allen, and his crew installed our WaterGuard and FlowGuard drainage systems. Our unique WaterGuard below-floor drain and FlowGuard thin floor drain are installed together when the floor slab is extremely thin. There was not a large enough space between the floor and footer to install our WaterGuard drain. For this reason, Dave installed our FlowGuard drain in front of the foundation footing, and our WaterGuard drain below FlowGuard.
The production crew dug a small perimeter trench below the affected wall. Then, they drilled weep holes directly above the trench to drain all water out of the porous concrete block wall. They laid clean drainage stone and placed 19 feet of the drainage system in the trench. They also installed a 20-foot lead line that will help direct water from WaterGuard into the garage's floor drain. Our crew back-filled the entire trench with more clean stone, then poured new concrete over top of the drainage systems for a clean finish.
Weirton homeowners previously hired a competitor of ours to waterproof their basement. The existing system began to fail, so they needed to quickly remedy the situation. They requested that our production crew simply add on to the system in place, therefore any leakage problems that may occur with the old, failing system would not be under our warranty. After a thorough inspection of the home, our Service Advisor provided an estimate on the spot. Shortly after, an appointment was scheduled for our crew to install our proven solutions.
Dave Cain and his crew installed our WaterGuard Drainage System, TripleSafe Sump Pump System, and CleanSpace Wall System. Our WaterGuard below-floor drain is unique because it rests above the foundation footing, so it does not sit in what we call the "mud zone." Our crew connected the existing drain with 32 feet of WaterGuard to direct water to our TripleSafe Sump Pump. They ran a 15-foot downspout extension from the sump pump's discharge line. The powerful pumps will discharge water far from the foundation to prevent re-entry. For additional protection against moisture, Dave and his crew installed our CleanSpace Wall System. CleanSpace is a waterproof, plastic liner that is attached to the walls with plastic drilled-in fasteners. CleanSpace was tucked into the drainage system to direct any wall leaks into WaterGuard. Our waterproof barrier will keep humidity out of this basement and give it a bright, new look.
Dave and his crew successfully completed this job within 1 short day!
Two years ago, a couple moved into a house in Weirton, WV. Now, they wanted to remodel the place, but noticed moisture seeping through the garage walls.
One of our Service Advisors inspected the home, identified the couple's main concerns, and proposed a custom waterproofing solution to fit their needs.
Our crew installed our WaterGuard below-floor drain with 1 inspection port and TripleSafe sump pump system. The unique drain was placed just below the garage floor slab along the perimeter of the water-damaged area. The sump pump system was placed in the low-lying corner of the garage, so water can easily channel from the drains into the pump. The TripleSafe system includes a 1/3 hp cast-iron pump with additional handy features.
Our below-floor drain and durable sump pump system keep basements, garages, and crawl spaces moisture-free!
This homeowner called Baker's Waterproofing, because lately the bottom of his basement walls were getting a lot of water after heavy rains. Our Service Advisor, Paul, met with the homowner and his wife to design a custom basement solution for that concerning problem.
Paul completed a thorough inspection of the inside and outside of the house. He identified water entering through all of the basement walls and some areas in the garage. As Paul designed their system, he didn't include anything to address the damp garage per the homeowner's request. A unique feature about our solution is that the husband and wife can add to it at any time to protect their entire below-grade space.
Our crew, led by Theron, installed 88 feet of our WaterGuard below-floor drain. This drain is installed on top of the foundation footing at the floor-wall joint with minimal disruption to the home. One WaterGuard inspection port was included for system maintenance.
Theron and his crew led the drain to our TripleSafe sump pump system. The system was placed in a small sump hole and tied into their existing downspout to daylight. Their TripleSafe includes 2 powerful pumps, one being the lifesaving battery-powered UltraSump pump. After our crew flood-tested the system to ensure functionality, the work areas were back-filled with clean gravel and re-finished with fresh, hand-poured concrete.
In just one project day, our team successfully waterproofed this Chester basement!
