A realtor lost potential buyers due to crawl space dampness in this Uniontown home. The realtor previously hired a home inspector that identified water, mold, and potential wood rot. That’s why she called Baker’s Waterproofing to help improve the home’s value.
Jesse is one of our Certified Waterproofing Professionals. He completed an inspection of the inside and outside of the foundation to design the right solution for this home. Jesse found water seepage throughout the crawl space and up to 3 inches of water in some areas. The floor was made up of gravel and damaged concrete.
There was moldy, rotten insulation falling down from the ceiling as well. He measured the relative humidity at 89.9%–dangerously high for any home. The first challenge was that access to this 3′ crawl space was only 14” wide.
Jesse customized the crawl space solution to meet the home’s needs and fit within the realtor’s budget.
Our tenured Foreman Ken successfully improved the home’s health and value. First, Ken carefully cut a larger crawl space access door. Once inside, he removed and cut away any fallen insulation.
Ken addressed the flooding with our TripleSafe sump pump system and internal drain around the perimeter. Then, they sprayed our Mold-X2 to effectively remove the mold. Next, he isolated the ground from the home with our CleanSpace drainage matting and durable waterproof liner. This 20-mil poly-reinforced liner was placed on top of the matting and attached to the walls to prevent standing water in the crawl space. He also installed our SilverGlo wall insulation that helped create a dry, energy-efficient space.
He sealed off 2 small vents that used to let hot, humid air inside the home. The final step was our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. Sedona removes excess moisture in the air to help prevent mold growth, wood rot, and foul odors.
The next family to move into this home can rest assured that our certified experts successfully addressed those crawl space issues.
