This holiday season, Baker’s Waterproofing wanted to give back to the local community. The Bentworth School District hosts a volunteer program called Bentworth Blessings that aims to give students and families the items they need throughout the year.
Bentworth Blessings has an “Angel Tree” program that allows members of the community to sponsor a Bentworth student and donate items from their Christmas list. In 2020, Bentworth Blessings was able to provide Christmas items for 132 students in addition to supplying groceries for 40 families over the holiday break.
Baker’s Waterproofing donated over $1,000 to their worthy cause. This donation covered the cost of fleece blankets that go to every student receiving Christmas gifts. Our hope was to ensure that Bentworth Blessings could give all 132 students a fleece blanket for Christmas.
All remaining donations from our team were used to do “fill ins” on some wish lists that did not get completed through an Angel Tree. The non-profit was able to give roller skates to a girl that desperately wanted them and sensory toys to a severely autistic and blind student that asked for them. One girl asked for almost nothing but a pair of Vans. Her mom said she cried when she opened them. Our donation was also used to order a bike and helmet for a middle school student who never had one of his own.
Jen Cario, the founder of Bentworth Blessings said, “Our community was amazing, but having cash donations allows us to do last minute shopping to make sure kids really feel like “Santa” heard them. It was an incredible gift and we thank Baker’s Waterproofing for helping us pull it off.”
At Baker’s, we strive to make a direct impact on the local community and help those in need. We were thrilled to be able to help our local school district this holiday season.
