Lumberport, WV: A homeowner wanted to proactively install an interior perimeter drainage system, sump pump, and waterproof wall system in the basement.
The husband and wife live in a ranch-style house that was built in 2012. They were not experiencing water issues, but wanted to install an interior waterproofing system to make sure that the area will be protected in the future. Basement finishing will be expensive, so the homeowner wanted to complete this project as a form of protection against the worst case scenario, basement flooding.
Our Certified Waterproofing Specialist, George Hollenbeck, inspected the inside and outside of the property. George learned that the couple had previously received an estimate from one of our competitors, but was not confident in choosing that company to do the work. They were about to give them another try, but they trusted what George told them about Baker's and the way in which he presented our proven solution.
They took a few days to make this decision before moving forward with our team.
This was a large home improvement project due to the wide open layout of a ranch-style house. Our installation crew, led by Foreman Jeff Kula, was hard at work for 2.5 days to successfully complete the job.
Jeff and his crew installed 2 TripleSafe sump pump systems. One system included 2 Zoeller pumps and our UltraSump battery back-up pump, and the other included 1 powerful Zoeller pump. They also installed 4 feet of grated TrenchDrain that spans the basement doorway and 172 feet of WaterGuard below-grade drain with FlowGuard (our unique interior perimeter drainage system). The complete drainage system wraps around the perimeter of the basement to collect any groundwater that tries to enter through the walls, floors, or doorway. Any future leaks will be channeled into one of the two sump pump systems, then discharged out of the basement and away from the foundation. On the home's exterior, the crew installed IceGuard fittings on each of the sump pump's discharge lines. These fittings include slotted openings for water to eject from the pipes in the rare event that they clog or freeze.
The crew installed 168 feet of our CleanSpace wall system on the 8.5-foot basement walls. This wall system is a 100% waterproof plastic, white liner that prevents humidity from passing through and directs wall leaks into the drainage system below. Plus, it dramatically brightened up the large basement living area.
Our proven waterproofing solution will keep this home moisture-free. With basement finishing plans in place, the married couple can rest assured that their money was well spent on this major home improvement project.
