Tom has been servicing the Tri-State area since he was a young teen working for his father’s home building company. Growing up in the industry, he’s had the benefit of gaining experience in all aspects of construction. Tom has been responsible for building additions, single family homes, multi-story apartment buildings, and even commercial/industrial facilities. He backed up that experience with a degree in engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Tom started at Baker’s in 2011 as a Service Advisor. He is a dually Certified Waterproofing Professional and Foundation Repair Specialist within the Tri-State area. Toms’ education and experience has allowed him great success in designing custom solutions to solve problems over the years.
As of 2016 Tom moved over to our production department as a trainer and mentor for our installation crews. His experience, expertise, guidance, and general construction knowledge will benefit our production team to better servicing our customers.
This Indiana, PA 2 car garage had water leakage due to cracks in the concrete floor. This was definitely becoming a nuisance for homeowner Jin who used his garage on a daily basis. Baker’s Waterproofing waterproofed the floor using an ElastoMeric coating that when applied gives the floor a waterproofing seal. This coating is specifically designed for vehicle traffic so the coating will not break or become damaged.
This Delmont, PA basement had up to 2 inches of water flooding into the space when it would rain, and very damp walls which was causing paint to chip and even mold growth. We installed a patented solution to this problem. We installed our WaterGuard sub-floor drain within the floor of the perimeter with a SuperSump sump pump. These two components will block and reroute water from flooding into the basement. Lastly we applied a vapor barrier called CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a durable liner that protects walls from any further water damages.
Richard of California PA had recently noticed cracking along both the interior and exterior walls of his basement. We determined that the wall was bowing and had 6 GeoLock wall anchors installed to stabilize the foundation. After the anchors were installed Richard was also given a tightening kit that he will use over time to attempt to straighten the wall back to its' original position.
Homeowner Dave of Irwin PA had water seeping into his basement from his porch through windows and the floor ceiling. The water was damaging his walls, causing mold to grow. Because of this we applied a plastic rigid barrier called BrightWall. BrightWall is a white paneling system that is mechanically fastened to the wall. The system blocks water from entering the basement through cracks. The panels are 100% so they will never warp or rot. This is a great solution over other remedies like paint or sealants that easily chip.
A basement with a sandstone foundation had water seeping in along right basement wall which was disturbing the floor and walls. Homeowner’s Bob and Donna were looking to retire and sell their home, and needed a basement waterproofing contractor to fix their Mckeesport home. They wanted a dry area that could be converted into a finished living space. Baker’s installed a french drain along the right wall, a sump pump system, and a durable barrier liner called CleanSpace to the wall. The basement is now dry, and ready to be converted into a finished area.
As a part of Carl of McKeesport‘s waterproofing system, he had our patented TripleSafe sump pump installed. This is by far our most efficient and reliable pump allowing for maxium water dispersion. The TripleSafe contains 3 pumps in 1, ensuring that your basement will remain dry under all circumstances. The first 2 pumps, the Zoeller M-53 and the Zoeller M-98 ½ hp together can pump 6,200 gallons of water out of your basement per hour since they have 2 separate discharge lines. The third pump, The Ultra Sump, is battery operated and works if the power fails to the Zoeller pumps.
Just east of Pittsburgh in Monroeville PA, we were able to level the sunken concrete slabs making up a homeowner’s sidewalk with our patented PolyLEVEL system. PolyLEVEL consists of a lightweight polyurethane foam that is inserted underneath concrete through small penny sized holes. The foam expands, and raises the slab back to its original position. On average the installation process lasts less than 1 day. No more trip hazards!
Karen of Bradfordwoods wanted to repair her foundation so that she did not have to sell her home. The wall clearly had undertaken significant cracking and was bowing slightly. Baker’s used a long lasting solution that stabilized the wall from any further movement using vertical CarbonArmor straps.
This new homeowner Beth needed a quick and effective fix to her damp basement. Our sales advisor Tom visited her home in July of 2014 and proposed her new abode needed some waterproofing as soon as possible.
Our foreman Ken and his crew installed WaterGuard, a interior drainage system , a SuperSump sump pump and a CleanSpace wall system.
Peter of New Kensington needed to repair his foundation. Upon inspection by Baker’s it was determined that the block foundation was bowing 1 ½” inwardly in the worst area. Wall stability is our specialty, and has been for over 40 years. We restored the wall with CarbonArmor, the same technology used by the US Department for Defense to repair bridges and skyscrapers.
In Venetia, Pennsylvania was experiencing water along the perimeter of the foundation walls. The old sump pump was not up for the task of pumping the water out of the basement and water was accumulating along the perimeter.
Our crew installed WaterGuard Below-Floor drainage system to direct water to a new SuperSump pump system capable of pumping out 2,500 gallons of moisture per hour.
In Oakmont PA homeowner Michael had our SuperSump sump pump installed in his basement as a part of his waterproofing system. All of our sump pumps come from Zoeller a company that his been in business since 1939 providing the best sump pumps on the market to cusomters around the world. Additionally since the walls were rather porous we applied BrightWall panels to protect from water leakage and that can potentially allow mold to grow.
Homeowners Chris and Candice were planning on staying within their home located in Bethel Park Pennsylvania. To ease the concerns of these homeowners our sales advisor Tom visited the couple to assess and address the waterproofing unsettling feeling within the basement.
Tom proposed installation of WaterGuard. This drainage system involves removing a section of the basement flooring, creating a trench on a bed of gravel and loose rock, resistant to clogging. This dainage system is connected directly to the SuperSump pump system ensuring that water cannot collect around the basement foundation. This system along with the UltraSump battery back up will protect their basement even during power failures.
In this Natrona Heights, PA finished basement we were able to fit our sub-floor WaterGuard drain behind the staircase. This drain which is installed flush with the floor is designed to keep the basement dry of water leakage into the basement along the both the floor and wall. The drain is installed with minimal disturbance. Once the concrete over the drain is dry, the interior french drain is hardly noticeable.
If water seepage is significantly heavy, we highly recommend a TripleSafe sump system to withstand flooding water. The TripleSafe, exclusive to only Baker’s in this area, contains 2 Zoeller powered motors that have the capacity to move 6,200 gallons of water per hour out of a basement. It also comes with a battery generator to ensure the system works even during power shortages. The TripleSafe is the most reliable sump to keep your basement dry ALL the time.
This basement located in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania needed some sprucing up as well as product to prevent water from collecting along the walls. The homeowner was unwilling to let the water collect along the walls and create a moldy environment so she decided to contact the guys at Bakers.
Our crew installed Brightwall paneling, a wall panel system that is 100% waterproof and unable to grow mold. Also installed was a SuperSump pump system to remove moisture within this space.
In this Pittsburgh, PA basement used for storage, Baker’s Waterproofing was able to place our WaterGuard sub-floor drain along the perimeter of the basement. As you can see, the basement drain was able to fit around the stairs and along the wall. The drain is laid down incrementally so it is able to be installed around tight corners easily. We highly recommend WaterGuard for its minimally invasive placement within the floor and it’s resistance to clogging. Most interior drains are placed under the footer where they tend to clog with mud. Once the drain is in place, concrete will be applied over to restore the basement’s floor.
With John and Jessica’s waterproofing system, they purchased our ThermalDry wall insulation. This energy efficient barrier is designed to reflect heat back into your home saving you money in the long run! It also will protect from excessive dampness on you r basement walls to prevent any further water damage. ThermalDry is a great selection for a homeowner that has a finished or has the intention of finishing their basement.
This home located in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania was experiencing bowing and cracking basement walls. To ease the homeowner's concern, our team installed 4 wall reinforcing strips, called CarbonArmor.
CarbonArmor is a reinforcing system used by the U.S. Dept. of Defense, and will be applied to this home's basement walls as a remedy for cracked and bowing foundation walls. The CarbonArmor system consists of strips of a high-strength epoxy resin and carbon fiber strap material is —pound for pound—stronger than steel, making this an effective way to repair a home’s foundation.
This home located in Ben Avon had water entering the basement along the perimeter of the foundation walls and flooding the area. To ease the concern of the homeowner, our sales advisor Tom suggested the homeowner install several products to waterproof the basement including: a drainage system, the WaterGuard system, and a SuperSump sump pump system.
In Brentwood PA a homeowner wanted to install waterproof floor tiles to protect the area from moisture around his shower. We installed our patented ThermalDry floor tiling system. ThermalDry flooring is designed to hold back water vapor and humidity. The slight elevation off of the dirt floor, creates airspace which allows water vapor to circulate underneath and dry out. Therefore, water and moisture cannot enter into the home's basement.
Washington resident Linda applied our patented ThermalDry wall system to insulate her basement walls. The flexible poly sheet material is easily applied to fit any area. The liner also acts as a vapor barrier by directing water downwards into the drainage track. ThermalDry is a great asset to have for any finished basement, allowing for drywall to easily be applied over top.
At this GlenShaw, PA residency the homeowner had a basement with very porous and moldy walls. With the intention of finishing the basement one day, we applied ThermalDry wall insulation. This poly sheet liner will block water seepage through cracks and will also create a insulative barrier by reflecting heat back into the area. This is a great asset for finished basements!
40 year Claysville homeowner Neil needed a fix to his porous foundation walls. Our sales adviosr Tom visited Neil at his home in August 2014 and started production of installation of a WaterGuard interior drain system and Clean Space wall system in the beginning of 2015.
After purchasing this home three years ago, homeowners Joe and Linda were concerned about mold growth within the homes finished basement. To prevent from a flooded basement our sales advisor Tom suggested installation of WaterGuard and SuperSump sump pump.
In Zelienople PA we applied our ThermalDry floor tile. This floor tiling system is a great way to improve the overall look of your basement while also creating a way to insulate your cold concrete floor, something that standard carpeting does not acheive. The tiles are easy to install, using a simple inner locking method. They also come in a variety of neutral shades to choose from.
Stan of Wellsburg, WV needed a basement waterproofing contractor to install an interior french drain and a sump pump system in his finished basement. The paneled wall, carpeting, and furniture were consistently becoming soaked with water, and taking on significant damage. Baker’s Waterproofing installed a sub-floor drainage system called WaterGuard and a sump pump system, The SuperSump with an attached battery operated backup system. The backup pump creates a system that will work even in the result of a power failure, to keep this basement dry.
