The Wesley United Methodist Church in Kingwood WV had a leak along the rear 51 ft. wall of the chapel. Water was accumulating during heavy rain periods and was leaving puddling water along the floor. The trustee of the church called Baker’s for a repair that would keep the space dry, and to prep the area for finishing.
A thorough inspection by Service Advisor Chris Shrontz allowed him to design a solution that would repair the leak. WaterGuard sub-floor drainage was placed flush with the floor along the foundation, and a sump system containing a battery backup attachment was installed in the rear corner to allow movement of water outside. The trustee wanted the water dispersion extended further from the chapel, so LawnScape drain piping was submerged in the soil of the yard out 12 ft.
Additionally the foundation walls were porous and were causing damage to the wood paneling. We removed the paneling and applied ThermalDry vapor barrier to the exposed foundation. ThermalDry is great to shield paneling from water damage and to insulate the space at the same time. Lastly, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifying system that will eliminate harmful allergens in the church to keep the air pure.
